Today, we pause with heavy hearts to remember Varnell Burch, 64, of East St. Louis, Illinois, whose life was tragically taken far too soon. Though words can never fully express the pain of such a heartbreaking loss, we hold close the memories, moments, and love that made his life meaningful.
Varnell’s journey came to a sudden and devastating end on Camp Jackson Road in Cahokia Heights, where he was struck by two vehicles. He was pronounced deceased at the scene at approximately 8:52 p.m. The circumstances surrounding the tragedy are being investigated as a hit-and-run, leaving behind a family, friends, and loved ones facing a sorrow that no words can easily heal.
Tonight, we remember not the tragedy, but the life behind the name—the moments shared, the smiles remembered, the kindness given, and the memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
