Some goodbyes come far too soon, and some losses leave a silence that words can never truly fill. Today, we remember Ruth Acuña de Valenzuela, 82, whose life was tragically taken on September 16, 2026, in a devastating collision along U.S. Route 60 in Mesa, Arizona.
Ruth was simply on her way home after dinner with family when an unexpected tire problem brought her loved ones to the roadside. Family members gathered to help, believing they would soon finish the tire change and continue safely home. Instead, tragedy arrived in the darkness when another vehicle struck the vehicles stopped on the shoulder.
Ruth did not get to make it home.
Her passing has left behind a family carrying unimaginable grief. Two relatives were critically injured and have reportedly endured multiple surgeries, while another suffered a broken collarbone. Beyond the physical wounds are emotional scars that may never completely heal.
Ruth’s family remembers her with love, tenderness, and gratitude. Though she understood that life eventually comes to an end, no one expected her final chapter to be written so suddenly or so tragically.
Her daughter, Alma Rosa Valenzuela, mourns a mother whose love will forever remain part of her heart. A mother may leave this world, but the memories she created, the love she gave, and the lives she touched never truly disappear.
