In loving memory of Earl Gill III, 55, of Ehrhardt, South Carolina, whose life was tragically taken Friday evening, September 18, in a devastating collision near St. George in Dorchester County.
Earl was behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler when, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the tractor-trailer was struck by a train at a railroad crossing on Gum Branch Road, just off Highway 78. The sudden tragedy brought an ordinary evening to a heartbreaking end, leaving behind sorrow that words can scarcely describe.
Fifty-five years of life carry countless memories—moments of laughter, conversations shared, hard work, family bonds, friendships, dreams, and the quiet everyday moments that often become the most precious after someone is gone. Earl’s passing is a painful reminder of how quickly life can change and how deeply one absence can be felt.
For those who knew and loved him, the road ahead may now feel different. There will be moments when memories bring a smile, and others when the tears come without warning. Yet through every memory, a part of Earl will remain—a presence preserved in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
