A Life Gone Too Soon.

In loving memory of James Russell Vandevander, 59, of West Virginia, whose life was tragically taken following a rollover crash in Highland County, Virginia, on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

At approximately 4:25 p.m., James was traveling along Highland Turnpike, east of Route 614, when his Toyota Scion ran off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned. He was transported to a hospital for treatment, but despite efforts to save him, James sadly passed away from his injuries.

The news of his passing leaves behind a silence that words can hardly fill. A life that carried its own memories, moments, laughter, struggles, and dreams has now become a cherished memory for those who knew him.

Fifty-nine years is a lifetime of stories, but it can still feel painfully short when someone we care about is suddenly gone. There are people whose absence changes the way familiar places feel, whose names become precious reminders of days that can never be lived again.

May James be remembered not only for the circumstances of his final journey, but for the life he lived and the moments he shared with others.

May his memory remain a quiet light in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Though he may no longer walk among us, the memories he left behind will continue to speak his name.

Rest peacefully, James Russell Vandevander. May you never be forgotten. 🕊️🕯️
