Some losses are impossible to put into words. On the morning of September 19, a heartbreaking tragedy on the Ohio Turnpike in Clay Township, Ottawa County, Ohio, claimed the life of Caitlin McCallister, 40. In the quiet early hours of the morning, a moment on the roadway forever changed the lives of those who knew and loved her.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Caitlin’s vehicle was stationary on the roadway when it was struck by a semi hauling double trailers. Both vehicles crashed into the median wall and caught fire. The semi driver was able to escape, but Caitlin could not. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Behind every heartbreaking headline is a person whose life meant something—someone with memories, dreams, laughter, relationships, and a place in the hearts of others. Caitlin was more than a name connected to a tragedy. She was a daughter, a friend, a loved one, and a cherished human being whose presence mattered.
