Rene May & Martha Gonzalez May — Two Lives Forever Remembered.
Some goodbyes come far too soon, leaving behind a silence that words can never completely heal. The San Antonio, Texas, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Rene May, 36, and Martha Gonzalez May, 43, who were found dead inside their home on San Antonio’s far West Side in Bexar County.
The couple, who had been living together in their newly built home for approximately 10 days, were believed to be married or in a domestic partnership. On Sunday evening, September 13, deputies with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 14000 block of Confluence Creek at approximately 7:30 p.m. after a witness returned to the residence and discovered both victims deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
According to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office, Rene May of San Antonio, Texas, died from a shotgun wound, and his death was ruled a suicide. Martha Gonzalez May of San Antonio, Texas, died from multiple gunshot wounds, and her death was ruled a homicide.
Sheriff Javier Salazar said investigators were examining the heartbreaking incident as a possible domestic violence-related murder-suicide. The circumstances surrounding the deaths have left loved ones and members of the community facing an unimaginable loss.
Behind every name was a life filled with memories, hopes, dreams, and moments shared with others. Today, we remember Rene and Martha with sorrow and compassion, while keeping those who knew and loved them in our thoughts.
