ποΈA LIFE DEVOTED TO SERVICE, FAMILY, AND OTHERS.
Today, we remember Denis Broderick, a devoted husband, father, brother, friend, former NYPD homicide detective, and part-time Pawleys Island police officer whose life of service came to a heartbreaking end following a motorcycle crash in Horry County, South Carolina, on September 6.
Denis dedicated more than 20 years to the New York City Police Department as a homicide detective, spending countless years protecting others and standing for those who needed someone in their corner. From 2017 to 2020, he continued that spirit of service as a part-time officer with the Pawleys Island Police Department.
Those who knew Denis remembered a man who never did anything halfway. He carried a huge smile, an unforgettable personality, and a gift for making people laugh. Whether riding his Harley-Davidson, playing darts or golf, dancing when music played, sharing a story, telling a joke, or simply checking on someone he loved, Denis had a way of making people feel welcomed and valued.
Behind the badge was a loving husband of 32 years, a father of three, a brother, and a cherished friend. He was also looking forward to becoming a grandfather.
His sudden passing leaves behind a silence that words cannot fill. Yet his legacy lives onβin the people he protected, the family he loved, the friendships he treasured, and the countless lives touched by his kindness.
May Denis Broderick rest peacefully, forever remembered for his courage, laughter, loyalty, and love.
Rest in peace, Denis. Your service is over, but your memory will never fade. ππ½πΊπΈππ«‘
