A Tragic Night on I-95 That Silenced a Life Too Soon.
With profound sadness, we remember 37-year-old Justin Michael Johnson of Chesterfield County, Virginia, whose life was tragically cut short following a devastating traffic collision on Interstate 95 on Tuesday night, November 3, 2026. Justin died at the scene after his 2015 GMC Sierra rear-ended a stopped 2012 International 4400 in the southbound lanes near mile marker 62.8, just south of Route 288.
According to Virginia State Police, a trooper had been dispatched around 10:15 p.m. following reports of a disabled vehicle creating a traffic hazard. Before the trooper arrived, the heartbreaking collision occurred. The International truck had stopped behind a disabled 2015 Chrysler 200 after its driver pulled over to check on the stranded motorist and report the situation. Its emergency warning lights were activated at the time of impact.
Despite the circumstances surrounding the incident, the night ended in an unimaginable loss. The driver of the International and the driver of the Chrysler were fortunately unharmed, but Justin did not survive.
There are moments when life changes in the blink of an eye, leaving behind questions, sorrow, and an emptiness that words cannot fully describe. A journey that began like any other ended in tragedy, reminding us how fragile and unpredictable life can be.
