Helen T. Gambino, 87, Remembered After Tragic Three-Vehicle Collision in New York.
With heavy hearts, we remember Helen T. Gambino, 87, of Brewster, New York, whose life was tragically cut short following a devastating three-vehicle collision on Election Day morning, November 3, 2026, along Danbury Road in the Town of Southeast, Putnam County. What began as an ordinary morning became an unimaginable tragedy, leaving behind a heartbreaking reminder of how fragile life can be.
According to New York State Police, the crash happened at approximately 7:20 a.m. Investigators reported that Helen was driving a 2024 Subaru and had stopped at a stop sign on Dingle Ridge Road. As she attempted to turn left onto Danbury Road, her vehicle was struck by an eastbound 2015 BMW driven by 19-year-old Caua Dos Santos Rocha of Danbury.
The devastating impact caused Helen’s Subaru to overturn before coming to rest in the center median. The BMW subsequently struck a 2009 Honda driven by 23-year-old Devin S. Reynoso, also of Danbury.
Helen was rushed to Danbury Hospital, where she was sadly pronounced deceased. Rocha sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while Reynoso escaped without injuries.
At 87, Helen had journeyed through nearly nine decades of life’s precious moments, experiences, and memories. Her passing is a heartbreaking loss, and her memory deserves to be treated with dignity and compassion.
May her life never be forgotten, and may the memories she leaves behind remain a source of comfort to those who knew and loved her.
Rest in peace, Helen T. Gambino. Gone from sight, but never forgotten. 🕊️
