Morgan MacGavin, 44, of Nashville, lost her life on October 2 in a heartbreaking crash on Interstate 40 near the Highway 70 exit in Bellevue. At around 11 a.m., Morgan was driving westbound in a red Mazda SUV when her vehicle struck the interstate median wall, crossed the westbound lanes, and continued off the roadway into the nearby tree line. Tragically, she died at the scene, leaving behind a moment of sorrow that would forever change the lives of those who knew her.
The crash brought traffic on I-40 to a standstill for approximately three hours as authorities worked at the scene and investigated what had happened. The Tennessee Department of Transportation first reported the devastating wreck shortly after 11:10 a.m.
According to police, there was no evidence at the scene indicating that drugs or alcohol were involved. While the circumstances surrounding the crash may remain part of the investigation, what cannot be measured is the value of the life that was suddenly taken.
