A TRAGIC HIGHWAY COLLISION THAT LEFT A COMMUNITY IN SORROW. 💔🕊️
With heavy hearts, we remember Jimmy Lee Brooks of Leicester, North Carolina, whose life was tragically cut short in a devastating crash on Interstate 26 in Buncombe County. The collision involved a Tesla driven by Bradley Lanier of Taylors, who has been charged in connection with the fatal incident. What should have been an ordinary journey ended in heartbreak, leaving behind grief that words can scarcely express.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the crash happened near Exit 37 when the Tesla entered I-26 traveling in the wrong direction, heading west in the eastbound lanes. The vehicle struck a Honda SUV head-on before colliding with a Honda passenger car. Jimmy and two other occupants of the car were rushed to Mission Hospital with serious injuries. Sadly, Jimmy later succumbed to his injuries.
Some tragedies arrive without warning, leaving families and loved ones struggling to understand how everything could change in a single moment. Jimmy’s passing is a heartbreaking reminder that life is precious, time is never guaranteed, and the absence of someone who mattered can leave an ache that words cannot heal.
The collision also left two other occupants seriously injured, while the driver of the Honda SUV sustained minor injuries and was later released from the hospital.
Authorities have charged Lanier with driving while impaired, felony death by vehicle, felony serious injury, and reckless driving. He is being held at the Buncombe County Detention Center on a $5 million bond. These charges remain allegations to be addressed through the legal process.
Today, we honor Jimmy Lee Brooks, a life that mattered and a name deserving to be remembered beyond the circumstances of his passing. Though his journey ended far too soon, may his memory continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew him.
