He was rushed to University Medical Center in Mobile, where doctors worked to treat the injuries he had suffered. Sadly, after two days of fighting, Ned passed away on Tuesday, September 15, leaving behind a silence that words can hardly describe.

Sometimes, a life changes in a single heartbreaking moment. Yet a person’s true legacy is never measured by the circumstances of their final day, but by the memories, kindness, moments, and love they leave behind.

James and Johnny, valued members of the CW Matthews Contracting Co. family, were working side by side as part of the company’s Traffic Control group when tragedy struck on I-95 in Bryan County, Georgia, on Monday morning. According to authorities, a box truck crossed onto the right shoulder and struck their Ford traffic control truck, which was pushed across several lanes and over a guardrail. Both workers were outside the vehicle collecting traffic control equipment when the crash occurred.

They were more than names connected to a tragic headline. They were coworkers, friends, and cherished members of a working family who had given many years of dedicated service. Their absence will be deeply felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing them.
