Little Maria Catalina Garcia, 20, tragically lost her life on Tuesday afternoon, October 27, 2026, after being shot in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. According to the Raleigh Police Department, her 18-year-old girlfriend, Shaliah Nikole Battista, has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting.
At approximately 3:10 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1100 block of Garner Road. There, they found Maria suffering from a gunshot wound. She was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, but despite the efforts to save her, she sadly passed away.
