In loving memory of Cj Nichols, whose life was tragically taken in a shooting on South Brightleaf Boulevard in Smithfield, North Carolina, on September 16, 2026. While authorities continue to investigate the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding his death, those who loved Cj are already feeling the unbearable weight of a world that suddenly feels much emptier without him.
To his family, Cj was so much more than a name in a heartbreaking report. He was their little big protective cousin, the one whose presence brought comfort and whose bear hugs could make you feel safe and loved. He was family, laughter, memories, and a familiar face whose visits created moments that will now be treasured forever.

His family now faces the difficult days ahead, holding tightly to memories of the times Cj came to his loved ones’ home, sometimes staying for weeks and becoming part of the everyday rhythm of family life.
