On Sunday, October 18, 2026, an unimaginable tragedy unfolded on West R Avenue in Texas Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, when a vehicle carrying five high school students reportedly left the roadway and struck a tree shortly before 3:30 a.m. Among those lost was 15-year-old Jordyn Bigham, a Mattawan High School student whose promising young life was tragically cut short.
Another 16-year-old student also died, leaving families shattered and a school community struggling to comprehend the heartbreaking loss. Three other teenagers were hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
