A LIFE LOST TOO SOON IN A HEARTBREAKING HIT-AND-RUN TRAGEDY. ๐๐๏ธ
With heavy hearts, we remember Darrell Jenkins, 68, whose life was tragically taken on the evening of October 15 in Shreveport, Louisiana, after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing Mansfield Road from a nearby apartment complex. What should have been an ordinary evening became a heartbreaking tragedy, leaving behind a painful reminder of how suddenly life can change.
According to authorities, the vehicle was traveling northbound when it struck Darrell. The driver allegedly fled the scene without stopping to render aid, leaving a devastating situation behind. For Darrell, a moment on an ordinary roadway became his final chapter, and a community was left mourning a life that deserved so much more time.
The Caddo Parish Coronerโs Office identified the 68-year-old as the victim of this fatal hit-and-run. Police later located 56-year-old Jose Ernesto Desantos on Hillcrest Avenue in a vehicle believed to have been involved in the crash. He was arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run driving, driving without a license, and having no insurance. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
Darrell Jenkins was more than a name in a tragic headline. He was a human life, deserving of dignity, compassion, and the chance to see another sunrise. Though the road he walked has come to an end, his memory deserves to be treated with tenderness and respect.
