A heartbreaking tragedy has taken the lives of 31-year-old Stephen Clayton, a beloved pastor from Monticello, Minnesota, and his precious three-year-old son, leaving a grieving family and community struggling to comprehend a loss so painful. Their lives were cut short in a devastating crash on Interstate 90 near Kimball, South Dakota, while Stephenโs pregnant wife, Katie Clayton, 24, and their 11-month-old son were seriously affected by the collision. ๐๐๏ธ
According to authorities, the family was traveling eastbound when a wheel detached from a stock trailer being pulled by a westbound pickup. The wheel crossed the median and struck their van, resulting in a devastating collision. Despite everyone wearing seatbelts, the tragedy claimed two precious lives and left Katie with life-threatening injuries. She was reportedly 28 weeks pregnant.
Stephen served as pastor at Becker Evangelical Free Church and was a graduate of Bethlehem College and Seminary, where his wife also studied. His life was one of faith, service, and devotion, and his absence leaves a silence that words can scarcely describe.
A father and son, forever connected by love, have now become part of a heartbreaking story that no family should ever have to endure. A wife faces an unimaginable struggle, a little child has lost his father and brother, and a community mourns a pastor whose presence meant so much.
Even amid such profound sorrow, the words of Psalm 34:18 offer a gentle reminder that God remains near to the brokenhearted.
May Stephen and his little boy rest in eternal peace, and may Katie, their surviving child, and the entire family find strength, comfort, and healing through this devastating loss.
Gone from this world, but never forgotten. Their love will forever echo in the hearts they leave behind. ๐ฏ๏ธ๐๐
