According to the Vermont State Police, Stephen was the sole occupant of a truck that was involved in a roadway incident near Carter Road. Witnesses reported that he exited the vehicle and appeared to be experiencing distress before suffering a fatal fall from a nearby cliff. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
