A Young Life Gone Too Soon.
With hearts heavy with sorrow, we remember Daria Serkov, 15, a young soul whose life was tragically taken Friday night in Manhattan’s East Village. At an age when dreams were only beginning to unfold, Daria’s journey was suddenly and heartbreakingly cut short.
The devastating collision happened around 9 p.m. at East 14th Street and First Avenue, near Stuyvesant Town. According to the NYPD, Daria was riding a bicycle with another 16-year-old girl when they collided with a commercial truck as both bicycles were turning north onto First Avenue. The other teenager was injured and taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue for treatment.
Police said the truck, a 2021 Peterbilt driven by a 58-year-old man, was also making a right turn when the tragic crash occurred.
Behind every heartbreaking headline is a life that mattered—a daughter, a friend, a beloved young person with hopes, laughter, memories, and a future that should have stretched far beyond this painful night. Daria was only 15, with so much life still waiting to be lived and so many chapters yet to be written.
