In Loving Memory of Cody Mallula.
In loving memory of Cody Mallula, 16, of Geneva, Nebraska, whose life was tragically cut short following a rollover crash on Highway 30 west of Lexington. What began as a heartbreaking pursuit involving a stolen vehicle ended in an unimaginable loss, leaving behind a silence where a young life should have continued to grow, dream, and unfold.
According to the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies had been alerted to a vehicle reported stolen from the North Platte area. The vehicle was later located after reportedly being seen traveling east on Highway 30. Authorities attempted to stop it, but the driver did not pull over. The pursuit continued through Cozad before deputies disengaged.
Only minutes later, a devastating report came in about a matching vehicle that had rolled west of Lexington. When deputies arrived, Cody had been ejected from the vehicle. Life-saving efforts were immediately attempted, but despite those efforts, the 16-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sixteen years is such a short time to have walked this earth. There were undoubtedly more mornings meant to come, more memories waiting to be created, more dreams still taking shape, and more chapters left unwritten. Yet, in a heartbreaking moment, Cody’s story came to an end far earlier than anyone could have imagined.
The road that day became the setting for a tragedy that no words can truly soften. For those who knew Cody, memories will now carry a weight they never expected to bear. A young life that should have been defined by possibilities is instead remembered through a moment of profound sorrow.
As the investigation continues, may Cody’s memory never fade. May his name be spoken with kindness, remembered with love, and carried gently in the hearts of everyone whose life he touched.
Rest peacefully, Cody Mallula. Sixteen years was not enough. Your life mattered, your memory remains, and you will never be forgotten. 🕊️💔
