Joshua Christopher Holland, 27, Lost in a Tragic I-275 Work-Zone Crash.
Some lives leave footprints far deeper than words can ever describe. On Friday, September 18, the world became painfully quieter for 27-year-old Joshua Christopher Holland of Adams County, Ohio, a young man who was simply doing his job when tragedy struck.
Just before 4:00 a.m., Joshua was working along eastbound I-275 near mile marker 42.6 in Springdale when he was struck by a vehicle. He was rushed by ambulance to Bethesda North Hospital, where, despite every effort, he later succumbed to his injuries.
The highway was closed for several hours as investigators worked through the heartbreaking scene. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit continues to investigate, while authorities have said impairment does not currently appear to have been a factor.
Behind Joshua’s work clothes was a son, a friend, a coworker, and a beloved member of a family that expected to see him return home. Instead, they were left with an unbearable silence and memories that will now carry the weight of his absence.
May the moments shared with Joshua become treasured memories—his laughter, his kindness, his presence, and all the little things that made him uniquely loved.
His passing is also a solemn reminder that every roadway worker deserves to go home safely. When approaching work zones, flashing lights, cones, or roadside crews, slow down, move over, and pay attention.
