Two Young Souls, Two Lives Forever Missed.
Benjamin “Ben” Moch and 16-year-old Taylor Fisher are being remembered after a devastating two-vehicle crash Friday night in Bismarck, North Dakota, claimed their young lives. Ben, 17, was a passenger in a Chevrolet Equinox when the vehicles collided near West Main Avenue and Missouri Avenue, and he was tragically ejected in the violent impact. He survived the initial crash and remained hospitalized in serious condition, but after days of fighting for his life, Ben passed away from his injuries Monday afternoon. Taylor also lost her life in the heartbreaking collision, leaving behind a community struggling with a pain that words can barely describe.
Some tragedies are difficult to comprehend because the lives they take are simply too young. Ben and Taylor had years ahead of them—years filled with possibilities, friendships, laughter, dreams and moments that should have become treasured memories over time. Instead, their stories were suddenly interrupted, leaving behind an emptiness that cannot easily be filled.
Ben will forever be remembered as number 11 for Mandan High School’s hockey team. Behind that number was a young man who was part of something bigger than himself—a teammate, a student, a friend and a valued member of his school community. He was also a member of the Peer2Peer club, touching lives beyond the hockey rink.
Now, the number 11 carries a different kind of meaning. It represents a teammate who will never return to the locker room, never step onto the ice again and never have the opportunity to write the next chapter of his life.
The Mandan hockey community has expressed its profound heartbreak, acknowledging that Ben was deeply loved and that the loss of their #11 will be felt far beyond the rink. His absence will be seen in the empty space where he once stood and in the memories that remain long after the final whistle.
Taylor’s passing adds another heartbreaking layer to a tragedy that has shaken the community. Two young lives that should have been filled with countless tomorrows are now remembered through the moments they left behind.
May Ben and Taylor be remembered not simply for how their lives ended, but for the lives they lived—the smiles, friendships, dreams and memories that made their time here meaningful.
