According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, officers responded shortly before 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, after reports of a shooting. Charles was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was rushed to a local hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators said witnesses reported that Charles had been involved in an argument with another man while a group was playing basketball. Authorities identified 22-year-old Jayden King as the suspect, stating that he allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot Charles before leaving the scene. Detectives said witness accounts and surveillance footage helped lead to King’s arrest less than six hours later. The investigation remains ongoing.
