A Tragic Loss That Has Left a Community Heartbroken.
Early Thursday morning on Middle Grave Creek Road in Marshall County, West Virginia, 46-year-old Monica L. Will and 44-year-old David D. Will lost their lives in a devastating act of violence that has left their family, friends, students, and the wider community mourning. Investigators say both were found inside their home with fatal gunshot wounds after 25-year-old Cyle B. Fabrizio of Moundsville allegedly entered the residence following an earlier shooting.
The tragedy unfolded after a silent 911 call was received at approximately 1:40 a.m. Deputies responding to the home encountered gunfire. Investigators say Fabrizio later appeared in the doorway holding a juvenile girl hostage at gunpoint. A deputy fired one shot, striking Fabrizio and ending the immediate threat. He later died from his injuries.
But inside the home, a family had already been shattered. Monica and David were gone, leaving behind children who must now face an unimaginable absence. Their children are safe and being cared for by relatives, but no words can fully express the pain of losing loved ones under such heartbreaking circumstances.
Monica’s loss has also deeply affected the educational community. John Marshall High School and Marshall County Schools confirmed that she was a teacher, describing her death as a profound tragedy. Students and staff were offered counseling as the school community came together to grieve and support one another.
A classroom that once carried her presence will now hold memories. The ordinary moments of teaching, encouraging, guiding, and caring for students have become precious memories that those who knew her will carry forward.
David, too, leaves behind memories that cannot simply disappear with his passing. His life, his presence, and the moments shared with those who loved him remain part of a story that will continue through the people he touched.
May Monica and David be remembered not only for the tragic circumstances of their final moments, but for the lives they lived and the people they mattered to.
May their children find strength in the days ahead, and may their family find comfort through the love and support surrounding them.
May they both rest in eternal peace. 🕊️🕯️
