The world feels a little quieter today as we remember Karon K. Collins, 69, of Fayette, whose life was tragically taken following a devastating crash in Fayette County, Alabama. Her passing leaves behind a silence that words can never truly fill and memories that those who loved her will carry forever.
On Tuesday afternoon, September 15, shortly after 3:30 p.m., Karon was driving an SUV along Fayette County Route 26 near Vick Road, approximately eight miles southeast of Fayette. Her vehicle left the roadway, entered a ditch, struck a tree and caught fire. Despite the efforts that followed, Karon suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Behind every heartbreaking headline is a human life—a woman with memories, relationships, moments of laughter, quiet dreams and a place in the hearts of others. Karon was more than a name in a report. She was someone who mattered, someone whose presence meant something, and someone whose absence will now be deeply felt.
Authorities with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
