A LIFE TAKEN TOO SOON IN A HEARTBREAKING TUSCARAWAS COUNTY CRASH.
Some moments change lives forever, leaving behind sorrow that words can never fully express. On November 2, 2026, a heartbreaking tragedy claimed the life of 29-year-old Megan Mazzoleni of Gnadenhutten, Ohio, following a devastating head-on collision on Edwards Ridge Road in Rush Township, Tuscarawas County.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 7:52 a.m. and involved a 2014 Ford Focus driven by Megan and a 2020 Kia Telluride operated by 43-year-old Shanon Matsel of Port Washington, Ohio. Investigators determined that the Ford traveled left of center before striking the Kia head-on.
Despite the emergency response and desperate efforts at the scene, Megan was tragically pronounced dead by the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office. She had to be extricated from the wreckage by mechanical means.
The tragedy also left others needing urgent medical attention. Shanon Matsel was transported to Union Hospital, while two 6-year-old boys, one traveling in each vehicle, were airlifted to Akron Children’s Hospital for medical care.
Behind this heartbreaking news is a precious life that ended far too soon. Megan’s passing is a painful reminder of how quickly an ordinary morning can become an unimaginable tragedy.
May her memory forever remain a light in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May those affected by this devastating crash find strength, comfort, and healing in the difficult days ahead.
Rest in peace, Megan Mazzoleni. Gone too soon, but never forgotten. 🕊️💔
