Selena Taylor, 28, Tragically Loses Her Life in a Devastating Louisiana Crash.
With heavy hearts, we remember Selena Taylor, 28, of Abbeville, whose life was tragically cut short in a devastating crash involving Shawnta Davis-Ned, 40, of Rayne, in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana. What should have been an ordinary journey became a heartbreaking tragedy, leaving behind loved ones who must now face the pain of an unexpected goodbye.
According to Louisiana State Police, the fatal collision happened shortly after midnight on Saturday, October 31, 2026, along Louisiana Highway 343 near Ridge Road, just outside Duson.
Investigators reported that Selena was driving a 2014 Kia Optima and slowing down as she approached a stop sign when a 2011 Buick LaCrosse, driven by Davis-Ned, struck her vehicle from behind. Sadly, Selena suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the investigation, authorities reported that Davis-Ned’s breath test showed a blood alcohol concentration above Louisiana’s legal limit. She was subsequently arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on charges including vehicular homicide, first-offense driving while impaired, careless operation, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Selena’s passing is a painful reminder of how quickly life can change. At just 28, she had so much life ahead of her, countless possibilities and unwritten chapters that will now remain dreams.
