According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 6:10 a.m. on southbound I-77 near Langtree Road (Exit 31). Jeffrey was riding a 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle in the southbound toll lane when an apparent tire failure caused him to lose control and overturn. His motorcycle was subsequently struck by a tractor-trailer, and he was also struck by an SUV. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Authorities initially investigated the possibility of a hit-and-run. However, after reviewing toll-lane footage and dash-camera recordings, troopers found no evidence of another vehicle being involved. No charges have been filed.
