The heartbreaking collision occurred around 2 a.m. on Campground Road near Forney Hill Road. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, William was driving a 2008 Toyota RAV4 westbound when the vehicle crossed the centerline and sideswiped a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The RAV4 then left the roadway and struck a power pole. Tragically, William succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The Hyundai’s driver was transported to a hospital by emergency medical personnel with minor injuries. Authorities indicated that impairment is suspected as a contributing factor in the crash, and no charges will be filed.
