Caryn J. Coon and Lauren J. Maturo, Two Beautiful Lives Lost in a Heartbreaking Garden State Parkway Tragedy.
With hearts heavy with sorrow, we remember Caryn J. Coon, 22, of Forked River, New Jersey, and Lauren J. Maturo, 32, of Syosset, New York, whose lives were tragically cut short in a devastating crash on October 24, 2026, on the northbound Garden State Parkway at milepost 87 in Toms River Township, Ocean County, New Jersey. What began as an ordinary journey ended in an unimaginable tragedy, leaving behind a silence that no words can truly fill.
At approximately 9:42 p.m., a Genesis passenger vehicle was disabled in the center lane, with a Freightliner tractor-trailer stopped behind it. Caryn, driving a Honda, struck the rear of the truck before leaving the roadway and traveling down a grass embankment. Another vehicle, a Ford SUV driven by 32-year-old Amanda K. McHenry, subsequently struck the rear of the Freightliner. Lauren, who was riding in the front passenger seat of the Ford SUV, and Caryn both sustained fatal injuries. Amanda suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.
Behind these heartbreaking headlines are two precious lives, each with a story that deserved countless more chapters. Caryn, at just 22, had so much life ahead of her, while Lauren, at 32, was taken from a world where her presence mattered more than words can express.
Their passing is a painful reminder of how quickly an ordinary night can become a life-changing tragedy. Families and loved ones may now face an emptiness that no explanation can erase.
May Caryn and Lauren be remembered with tenderness, dignity, and love. Though their journeys ended far too soon, may their memories remain eternal, forever held in the hearts of those who loved them.
Rest peacefully, Caryn and Lauren. Gone too soon, remembered forever. ๐๏ธ๐
