A LIFE LOST TOO SOON IN A HEARTBREAKING I-26 TRAGEDY 💔🕊️
With profound sadness, we remember Jimmy Lee Brooks of Leicester, North Carolina, who tragically lost his life in a devastating collision on Interstate 26 in Buncombe County. The crash involved a Tesla driven by Bradley Lanier of Taylors, who has been charged in connection with the fatal incident. In a heartbreaking moment, an ordinary journey became a tragedy that would forever change lives.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the Tesla entered I-26 near Exit 37 traveling in the wrong direction, heading west in the eastbound lanes. It struck a Honda SUV head-on before colliding with a Honda passenger car. Jimmy and two other occupants were taken to Mission Hospital with serious injuries. Sadly, Jimmy did not survive.
Some losses leave wounds that words cannot heal. Jimmy’s passing is a painful reminder of how fragile life can be and how quickly an ordinary day can become a moment of unimaginable sorrow. Behind his name was a life that mattered, memories that cannot be erased, and a place in the hearts of those who knew him.
The crash also left two other occupants seriously injured, while the SUV driver sustained minor injuries and was later released from the hospital.
Lanier faces charges of driving while impaired, felony death by vehicle, felony serious injury, and reckless driving. He is being held at the Buncombe County Detention Center on a $5 million bond. The charges remain allegations to be addressed through the legal process.
Today, we honor Jimmy Lee Brooks and the life he leaves behind. Though his journey ended far too soon, may his memory endure and bring comfort to those mourning his loss.
