Their identities were released by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office on September 22.

Katie and Ben were known to each other and had shared a child. According to authorities, Katie had gone to Ben’s home on Rose Lane to drop off their child when the tragic shooting occurred. Katie died at the residence, while Ben was transported first to Southwest Health Center in Platteville and later to a Madison hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. At 83 years old, Erika had lived through eight decades of memories, moments, challenges, joys, and countless chapters that made her life uniquely her own. Her passing leaves behind a space that cannot simply be filled—a quiet absence felt by those who knew her, loved her, and treasured the time they shared with her.

John Lang, 37, of Paynesville, and Judith Jones, 80, of Litchfield, were involved in a serious two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Swede Grove Township, a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly an ordinary journey can change in an instant.

The collision happened at approximately 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 4 and Meeker County Road 16, north of Grove City. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Lang was traveling southbound on Highway 4 while Jones was traveling northbound when their vehicles collided at the intersection. (AM 1240 WJON)

Instead, those who loved him are left with memories, photographs, and a silence that can never truly replace his presence.

According to South Charleston Police, Hunter was struck by a vehicle near the intersection of MacCorkle Avenue, also known as U.S. 60, and Rock Lake Drive. He was taken to a local hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he sadly passed away. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and have reviewed surveillance video as part of their investigation.

His passing has also touched the school community. Kanawha County Schools announced that grief counselors would be available to support students as they cope with the devastating news.
