Both workers were outside the vehicle collecting traffic control equipment when the crash occurred.

Mindi, a passenger on the motorcycle, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

    According to Alaska State Troopers, difficult weather conditions prevented authorities from immediately reaching the remote crash site. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, with an investigator traveling to Bethel before continuing to the site when weather conditions allow.

    For those who knew Nicholas, this loss reaches far beyond the headlines. Nick was the owner and pilot of Nick’s Air Service, an air taxi business based at Birchwood Airport in Chugiak. The Alaska Outdoor Council remembered him as a longtime friend and supporter, expressing deep sorrow over his passing and extending heartfelt condolences to everyone who knew and loved him.
