Sadly, after two days of fighting, Ned passed away on Tuesday, September 15, leaving behind a silence that words can hardly describe.

According to authorities, a box truck crossed onto the right shoulder and struck their Ford traffic control truck, which was pushed across several lanes and over a guardrail. Both workers were outside the vehicle collecting traffic control equipment when the crash occurred.

They were more than names connected to a tragic headline. They were coworkers, friends, and cherished members of a working family who had given many years of dedicated service. Their absence will be deeply felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing them.

In loving memory of Mindi Lane Harris, 26, of Burnet, Texas, whose life was tragically taken in the early hours of Sunday, September 13, following a devastating crash in Ector County.

At approximately 12:20 a.m., near East Cottonwood Road and Lariat Trail, a motorcycle and a Chevrolet Camaro collided. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s preliminary investigation, the motorcycle was unable to avoid the Camaro as it attempted a left U-turn. Mindi, a passenger on the motorcycle, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her passing leaves behind a silence that words can hardly describe. Twenty-six years is far too short for a life filled with hopes, dreams, laughter, memories, and moments still waiting to be lived. In an instant, a beautiful life was changed forever, leaving loved ones to face the heartbreaking reality of a future without her.

The motorcycle’s driver, Ryan Adam Meighen, 39, of Gardendale, was seriously injured and transported to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, where he was reported in critical condition. The Camaro driver, Austin Xavier Berjarano, 22, of Midland, suffered minor injuries.

As investigators continue working to understand exactly what happened, those who knew Mindi are left remembering the person she was and the moments she gave to others.

Nicholas Peters, 34, of Eagle River, Alaska, and John “Jack” Ervin, 50, of Missouri, were aboard a Cessna 185 that crashed after taking off from a moose camp near Aniak on Tuesday.

According to Alaska State Troopers, difficult weather conditions prevented authorities from immediately reaching the remote crash site. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, with an investigator traveling to Bethel before continuing to the site when weather conditions allow.

For those who knew Nicholas, this loss reaches far beyond the headlines. Nick was the owner and pilot of Nick’s Air Service, an air taxi business based at Birchwood Airport in Chugiak. The Alaska Outdoor Council remembered him as a longtime friend and supporter, expressing deep sorrow over his passing and extending heartfelt condolences to everyone who knew and loved him.

Thirteen service members were transported to a nearby hospital, with three remaining hospitalized. Another driver sustained minor injuries. Just after 9 p.m., near Malcolm X Boulevard and Macon Street, Detwan was traveling northbound on a 2017 Kawasaki dirt bike when he encountered a dip in the roadway. The collision caused him to be thrown from the bike onto the street, where he was subsequently struck by a Mercedes-Benz traveling in the same direction.

Detwan was rushed to Kings County Hospital in critical condition, but despite efforts to save him, he sadly passed away from his injuries.

Behind every headline is a human being, a story, a family, and a heart that mattered. Detwan was more than the circumstances surrounding his final moments. He was someone who had a place in this world, someone whose presence meant something to those who knew and loved him.

According to Kentucky State Police, another person, 21-year-old Adrick Ward of Glasgow, was traveling as a passenger in Martin’s vehicle and was seriously injured. He was transported for medical treatment before being flown to an area hospital. Authorities said an 18-year-old Glasgow driver was also injured in the crash.

As investigators continue working to understand exactly what happened, the deepest reality remains unchanged: a life has been lost, and a family and community are left to carry the weight of an absence that words cannot truly describe.

On Tuesday evening, James was traveling west toward John R. Junkin Drive when a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction attempted to turn onto Briarwood Drive and struck his motorcycle. The collision caused him to lose control, and he was subsequently struck by a second vehicle. Despite the efforts that followed, James could not be saved. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Thirty-four years may seem like a lifetime, yet when a life is suddenly taken, it can feel as though there should have been so many more chapters waiting to be written. More mornings to wake up, more roads to travel, more laughter to share, more memories to create.
