Their identities were released by the Grant County Sheriff\u2019s Office on September 22.<\/p>\n<p>Katie and Ben were known to each other and had shared a child. According to authorities, Katie had gone to Ben\u2019s home on Rose Lane to drop off their child when the tragic shooting occurred. Katie died at the residence, while Ben was transported first to Southwest Health Center in Platteville and later to a Madison hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Their child was not physically injured and is now with family. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wmtv15news.com\/2026\/09\/22\/grant-county-sheriff-identifies-2-killed-apparent-murder-suicide-near-cuba-city\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\">https:\/\/www.wmtv15news.com<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Behind these heartbreaking headlines were two human lives filled with moments, memories, relationships, and people who cared about them. Katie was a daughter, a loved one, and a mother. Ben, too, leaves behind people who knew him, loved him, and will carry memories of him in their hearts.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes words feel far too small for a loss this heavy. A life can change in a single moment, leaving behind silence where there were once conversations, laughter, plans, and dreams.<\/p>\n<p>May Katie\u2019s memory be held with tenderness, and may Ben\u2019s memory be remembered with compassion.
