Some tragedies leave behind a silence that words can never fully explain. With heavy hearts, we remember David E. Puerto Chavarria, 23, of Dripping Springs, Texas, who tragically lost his life in a devastating multi-vehicle crash on October 9, 2026, in Johnson City, Texas.

At approximately 6:00 p.m., officers responded to a serious collision near Old River Crossing and the 400 block of North U.S. Highway 281. Preliminary findings indicate that David was driving a silver Hyundai Genesis southbound when the vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic while attempting to pass a white Ford F-250 pickup truck. The Hyundai struck the F-250 before colliding head-on with a northbound gray Ford F-350. Sadly, David, the sole occupant of the Hyundai, was pronounced dead at the scene.

At only 23, David had so much of life still ahead of him. His passing is a heartbreaking reminder that the future we imagine is never something we can take for granted. In a single devastating moment, a young life was lost, leaving behind a story that ended far earlier than anyone could have wished.

Behind every name in a tragic headline is a human life, a personal story, and a world of possibilities. David’s death brings renewed attention to the preciousness of life and the importance of making choices that protect ourselves and others on the road.

As this heartbreaking loss is remembered, may compassion surround everyone affected, and may those grieving find strength through the difficult days ahead.

Rest peacefully, David E. Puerto Chavarria. 🕯️ May your memory be remembered with dignity, and may your story serve as a lasting reminder to value every moment, hold loved ones closer, and never take another day for granted. Gone far too soon, remembered with sorrow. 🕊️💔
