A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded Saturday night, October 3, on U.S. Highway 385 near Sissy Road in Ector County, Texas, when a four-vehicle crash claimed the life of 66-year-old Mario Elier Garza Garza of Roma. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at approximately 8:20 p.m. after Garza\u2019s 2016 Ford F-150 struck debris that had fallen from an unsecured load on a trailer stopped along the highway.<\/p>\n
The preliminary investigation indicates that Garza was traveling southbound when his pickup encountered the debris. His truck then collided with the rear right side of a 2006 Fontaine trailer being pulled by a 2013 Kenworth T8 Series truck. The impact caused Garza\u2019s pickup to spin before it continued into a 2026 Ford F-250. In the sudden chain of collisions, a life was tragically taken. Garza was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
The Kenworth was driven by 47-year-old Jesus Alvarado of Hobbs, New Mexico, while the Ford F-250 was operated by 56-year-old Gerardo Emilion Munoz Lopez of McCamey. Neither of those drivers was injured.<\/p>\n
