Leobardo Adan Garza, 53, of Mission, and Margarito Vasquez Cano, 36, also of Mission, tragically lost their lives in a devastating crash at the intersection of FM 1924 and Minnesota Road, north of Palmview in Hidalgo County, Texas. The heartbreaking collision occurred at approximately 5:09 p.m. Sunday when a 2006 Toyota Tundra traveling northbound on Minnesota Road entered the intersection after running a red light and struck a 2018 Ford F-150 traveling eastbound on FM 1924. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Garza was driving the Toyota, while Cano was driving the Ford. Both men died at the scene.<\/p>\n
In a matter of seconds, an ordinary Sunday afternoon became a moment of unimaginable sorrow. Two lives were suddenly taken, leaving behind memories that can never be replaced and an emptiness that words can never completely fill.<\/p>\n
Leobardo Adan Garza was 53 years old, while Margarito Vasquez Cano was only 36. Though their lives were different and their journeys unique, both men now share a heartbreaking final chapter written on a stretch of roadway in Hidalgo County.<\/p>\n
For Margarito\u2019s loved ones, it is important that his role in the crash is remembered correctly. Margarito was driving the Ford F-150 and, according to the preliminary DPS account, was not the driver who ran the red light. The Toyota, driven by Garza, entered the intersection against the traffic signal and collided with the Ford.<\/p>\n
Yet beyond the vehicles, the intersection and the investigation are two human lives that mattered. They were more than names in a crash report. They were people who had memories, experiences, friendships, responsibilities, hopes and dreams. Their absence will now be felt in ways that cannot be measured.<\/p>\n
As DPS troopers continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision, two families and communities are left to mourn a loss that came without warning.<\/p>\n
