Some goodbyes come without warning, some lives are taken in the silence of the night, and some families are left searching for answers when the person they love never makes it home. For 33-year-old Eddie Maciel Jr., a devoted husband and father, an ordinary journey ended in unimaginable tragedy on San Antonio’s far South Side.

On Thursday, October 15, 2026, Eddie’s body was discovered in the grass along northbound Interstate 37, just north of Loop 1604 in San Antonio, Texas. A tow truck driver spotted him shortly after 8:30 a.m., and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. Investigators believe Eddie was struck by a passing vehicle while attempting to cross the highway sometime between 10 p.m. Wednesday and midnight. Authorities confirmed that he died from blunt force injuries, and the driver involved has yet to be identified.

Perhaps the most heartbreaking detail is that surveillance footage reportedly showed Eddie walking before the tragedy, appearing as though he was heading to work. He was a man with responsibilities, a husband with a family, and a father whose daughters deserved many more years of his love.

Behind his name is a family now facing an emptiness that words can never fully explain. His daughters have lost precious moments they should have shared with their dad, while his wife must endure a pain no family should ever have to experience.

Eddie Maciel Jr. deserved to reach his destination safely. His life mattered, his presence mattered, and his memory will forever hold meaning.

May justice find its way through the darkness, and may his family find strength amid their sorrow.

Rest peacefully, Eddie Maciel Jr. Gone from this world, but never forgotten. 🕊️💔
