Some farewells arrive without warning, leaving behind a silence that feels impossible to understand. In loving memory of Jessie J. Truitt, an 81-year-old man from Greenville, Alabama, whose life was tragically cut short in a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

At approximately 12:15 p.m., Truitt was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala along U.S. Highway 31, near the 140-mile marker, about one mile north of Greenville in Butler County, when his vehicle left the roadway, struck a ditch, and overturned. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two passengers, Gracie M. Kelly, 83, of Greenville, and Rosalind R. Roper, 62, of Birmingham, were injured and transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment.

Behind this heartbreaking news is a human life that mattered, a story that reached beyond the final moments, and a memory that deserves to be treated with dignity and compassion. At 81, Jessie had journeyed through decades of life, witnessing changing seasons, collecting experiences, and leaving behind memories that may now bring both comfort and sorrow to those who knew him.

His passing is a painful reminder of how suddenly an ordinary afternoon can become a moment that changes everything. While the road ahead may feel heavier for those grieving this loss, may the memories of Jessie’s life offer a gentle light through the darkness.

As the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency continues investigating the crash, our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragedy.

Rest peacefully, Jessie J. Truitt. Though your earthly journey has ended, may your memory endure, your life be remembered with love, and your name never be forgotten. 🕊️💔
